Writing that first message could be difficult and time-consuming if you are not sure what to write. You might be tempted to write a generic "hi" or "hello" and be done. We are here to help you out and lower the number of people who write these types of first messages. They are boring, and you are not helping your chances by typing this as a first message. Now let's get you started with your first message.
Here is a cheat sheet to get you started:
- Read Her Profile
On apps like Badoo, Tinder, OkCupid, eHarmony, Zoosk, Waplog, etc., you will see under the photo there is a profile information box. Filling that box is very important because aside from your photo it is the only thing strangers will see when they look at your profile. Read her profile and find some common interests you two share. Write about the common interest you two share, and pay close attention to see if she included her name anywhere on her profile. Use her name if she has, this will peak her attention by making it personal. Try to find anything you can playfully tease her with, such as an embarrassing story, weird hobbies, something in her picture.
- The Subject
If you are messaging a beautiful woman, then you need to know that their inbox is full of messages; full of heys and hellos. Stand out by messaging something interesting. You want to write something that will get her attention right away and convince her to message you back. There are two great ways to get her attention: One of them is by talking to her about her, and another great way is by asking her a question. So combining the two and asking a question about her, later adding your common interests to the combo could be your best bet.
- The Body
For this section of your message, you want to be able to connect with her. Talk about her, tell stories about your common interest; just try to grab her attention with your common interests. For the best results talk only about your positive similarities and interests. There is no need to go into the negatives since that will only diminish your chances.
Ask her questions to allow the conversation to flow and try to tease her without sounding mean or condescending. Teasing can be cute and fun as long as it is done right. In-text messages, it is much harder to convey teasing because there is no eye contact, body language, or tone to make it obvious it is just a joke. So it can be interpreted wrong. For best results, compliment and tease her in the same sentence.
- Call To Action
Here you want to say something that will give her a reason to message you, also a great way to show your confidence. You can message something in the lines of "we both came here to find someone great, and I think it would be foolish if we didn't talk once."
You can easily customize your message depending on who you are, your experience, and who you are messaging. It is not that hard and we hope your first message goes exactly the way you hoped and good luck. Now there are more tips and tricks for a better first message.
------------
- Keep it short - Keep it short without going overboard but write enough to show you read her profile and are indeed interested in her. 2-5 sentence messages max. and make sure it includes at least one question that relates to her profile. You should also share information about yourself to establish more common ground.
- Do not come on too strong- Giving her generic compliments, using innuendos, pressuring her to meet you right away and of these messages will come on too strong and get you deleted. You should also ask yourself, would you want your sister to get a message like this. If not, then you should be changing your message style.
-
Questions- Ask questions based on her profile. ASK questions that's how the conversation gets its fuel. If you talk about basic subjects and just agree with whatever they say, your response rates will start to decrease.
-
Check Yourself- Before you hit send, look for spelling and grammatical errors.
- Pick Up Lines- Don't try to use pick-up lines because they never work. Pick-up lines could make her smile but that is only because she was probably already attracted to you. Pick-up lines are always cheesy and awkward, so try to stay away from them as much as possible. It is best to be straightforward and simple than to look dumb and ruin your chances.
